Number: MA.STAT2AP
Course Name: Statistic 2 AP
Prerequisite: Algebra 3, 4
Course Description:
The purpose of the Statistics, AP course is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes: exploring data: observing patterns and departures from patterns; planning a study: deciding what and how to measure; anticipating patterns: producing models using probability theory and simulation; statistical inference: confirming models. Students who successfully complete the course and examination may receive credit, advanced placement, or both for an introductory college statistics course. This course will be offered as a two-semester course. This course will be valuable to those students who plan to attend college regardless of their major. Most college majors such as social science, education engineering, health science, mathematics, business and actuarial science typically require statistics.
