Number: MA.INALGE2
Course Name: Integrated Algebra/Geometry 2
Prerequisite: Math 8 or Math Essentials 1, 2
Course Description:
Integrated Algebra/Geometry 1 & 2 will prepare students for success in college, in their careers, and daily lives in the 21st century by developing their ability to explore and solve real-world math problems, think critically, work cooperatively, and communicate ideas clearly. The course is organized around the concept of “function” and techniques of mathematical analysis to identify patterns and to create and use functions that model real-world data. The course focuses particularly on linear functions; exponential and quadratic functions are introduced. Topics of number sense and computation; algebra and problem solving; probability and statistics; geometry; and measurement are interwoven throughout the course. The course encourages and supports different learning styles by using visual and hands-on approaches that could include computer and graphing calculator technologies, exploratory activities, projects and group work. This course is explicitly aligned to the Grade 9 Colorado Mathematics Standards and CSAP Assessment Framework. (A scientific calculator is required; a graphing calculator is recommended.)
