Course Description:
This two-semester honors course is designed for students who have had geometry. It is intended to prepare students to enter either the IB Mathematics Higher Level course or the IB Mathematical Studies Subsidiary Level course. Topics discussed in the first semester include measurement and descriptive statistics, variations, linear and quadratic equations, and polynomials of higher degree. The second semester topics include exponential and logarithmic functions, series and sequences, introduction to trigonometry, functions and inverse functions and matrices and transformations. This course places particular emphasis on strengthening the students' algebra and graphing skills and requires significant application of the topics discussed. A graphing calculator is required for this course. (12/94)
