Grant School Report Card

August 15, 2007

Dear Parents, Caretakers and Students,

On behalf of the PTA, welcome back to school!  The PTA is comprised of parents, teachers, staff, caretakers and community members who are committed to the overall development of Grant students.  Members of the PTA provide an enriching environment for all students at Grant by coordinating and funding educational programs, social events, and health and safety programs such as: Parents are Partners Reading Program, Night of a Thousand Stars, Reflections, Valentine’s Dance, Grant Carnival, Safety Town and Vision and Hearing Screening to name a few.   Educational support is also provided by funding classroom materials such as “Touch Math” and by volunteering in the classrooms.  These programs, events and materials are funded by Grant students and parents who participate in the following fundraisers

bullet

Box Tops for Education - Look for “Box Tops” on many of the containers of foods you purchase.  Cut them out and send them to school with your child.

bullet

Campbell ’s Soup Labels - Peel the Campbell ’s labels off the can and send them to school with your child.

bullet

Catalog Fundraiser - This is the PTA’s largest fundraiser.  A packet will be sent home on August 31st detailing how you can participate.

bullet

SCRIP - Starting this year, you will be able to purchase gift cards through the PTA to use for your everyday expenses.  For example, if you know you spend $200/month at King Soopers, you can purchase the same amount of gift cards through the PTA and use them like cash.  The PTA is able to purchase the gift cards at a discount, determined by each individual vendor, and is therefore able to make money without you paying anymore than you normally would.  More details will be sent home soon.

Everything the PTA provides to enrich the environment at Grant is only possible because of parent volunteers like you.  Members of the PTA ask for and welcome your involvement.  Volunteering can range from baking a cake for a bake sale to filling a position on our board; you decide.  Every contribution is valued and appreciated.  To join, please fill out the included PTA membership envelope, return it to Grant, and considering attending our next meeting from 6:00-8:00 on September 10th.

The PTA would like to congratulate Grant teachers, staff and students for their recent awards for academic excellence.  In 2005, Grant was named a “ Gain Maker School ” by the state of Colorado .  This means the students at Grant have shown tremendous yearly progress on their CSAP scores.  Additionally, Grant is 1 of 5 schools in the state of Colorado , and the only one ever in District 11, to be nominated as a No Child Left Behind Act “Blue Ribbon School.”  What an accomplishment!  The PTA is proud to be a part of a school that provides so well for its students.

Again, on behalf of the PTA, welcome back to school!

Sincerely,

Jennie James
