 Experiences I had
at Wasson HS helped to shape who I am and defined my ability as a
leader. Becoming friends with many people from different back-grounds
also had a strong bearing on who I am now. While earning my Computer
Science degree at UCCS, I became a Big Brother to a 13-year-old boy.
In high school, I observed many kids veering off on the wrong path.
What they needed was a positive influence in their lives, which is
what I try to provide for my Little Brother. Today, I work for the
U.S. Golf Association. My job is to award grants to organizations such
as Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs to establish junior golf programs. We also
work with Police Athletic Leagues and individuals with disabilities.
Kids earn many life lessons from golf, such as honesty and integrity,
since golf is the only sport that is self-refereed. Sports has always
played an important role in my life, so this job is a good way for me
to give back. |
