School Supplies for 2010-2011

Supply items can be bought at any location:
(Some of these items may need to be replenished throughout the year.)

  • Pencils – 3 dozen for all grades
  • Pink erasers – (2) for all grades
  • Pencil top erasers – (1) package for all grades
  • Small pencil sharpener with shaving component – all grades
  • Loose leaf paper – 4 packets of 100 sheets – all grades
  • Composition notebooks – (6) for 6th & 7th grade, (2) for 8th grade
  • Spiral notebooks –  (0) for 6th grade, (4) for 7th grade, (6) for 8th grade
  • Colored pencils – all grades
  • Pens – (0) for 6th grade, (1) package for 7th & 8th grade
  • Highlighters – 3 different colors – all grades
  • 3” x 5” note cards – (500) all grades
  • Ό” graph paper – two packages – all grades
  • Plastic accordion folder  - 6th grade only
  • 1” binder with a minimum of 5 dividers – 6th grade only
  • Pencil bag – (small) – all grades
  • SMALL personal backpack (book bag) – NO WHEELS 
  • ID badge holder or lanyard – for ID that must be worn at all times

Scholars will not have lockers except for coats and lunches, so extra supplies should be kept at home and brought to school as necessary.

 

Make checks payable to Galileo School of Math and Science.  All money will be deposited into a school account. Contact the Principal if financial assistance is needed.

Bulldogs Qualify for Nationals

Galileo's Team America Rocketry Challenge members, Sam Askew, Emilio Aragon, Jacob Broughton, Jacob Briggs, Rachael Wilts, and Bethany Weaver have been working hard all semester to make qualifications to make it to the big show and we have qualified for the contest May 15th in Virginia! ATTENTION: SCHOOL IMMUNIZATIONS

All Middle School (6th, 7th & 8th grade) students are required by state law to have the following immunizations for the 2010-2011 school year:

  • 4 or 5* DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis)
  • 3 or 4* Polio
  • 3 Hepatitis B
  • 2 MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • 1 Tdap (Pertussis and tetanus booster)
  • 1 Varicella (or documented history of chickenpox)

*depending on their age, and date of last immunization in the series

If your student has not completed their immunizations, please make an appointment to get this done as soon as possible, and bring proof of the immunization to the school office before the start of school in August.

 Ψ  El Paso County Health Department Immunization Clinic: 578-3272 for an appointment.  Appointments are necessaryBring shot record with child.  Straight Medicaid is accepted.  Cash, checks, VISA/MasterCard are accepted. No child will be turned away.

Ψ  Peak Vista Community Health Center: 632-5700 You must be registered with Peak Vista to be seen there. If your child qualifies, they will assist you with registration.

Ψ  The SET Clinic: 776-8850 For those without insurance, on Medicaid or their insurance does not cover immunizations (underinsured) - FREE Immunization Clinics , call for an appointment. 

 Ψ  Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be at different locations.  For dates and appointments, call 866-6789

* Parents may sign an exemption based on religious, medical or personal reasons.  In the event of a VPD (vaccine-preventable-disease) outbreak,  unvaccinated students may be subject to quarantine and exclusion from school for weeks, in which case D-11 is not obligated to provide tutoring.

The Bulldog Bark is an online news magazine that is created by 6th grade scholars under the supervision of Mrs. Jaramillo.  The site is updated as frequently as articles are written.
