Ms. Carlson grew up on Long
Island near the beach and spent her high school years in the
mountains of southwestern
Pennsylvania.
After completing her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology at
New York
University,
she moved to
Virginia
to open a school for special needs preschool children. Four years later
she moved to
Colorado Springs
where she began teaching physically handicapped children at Stratton
Elementary. Since then she has been a kindergarten, 1st, 3rd,
4th, and 5th grade teacher, a special education
resource teacher, and a literacy resource teacher. In addition to
Stratton, she has worked at
Midland,
Martinez,
Chipeta, King, and Monroe
Elementary Schools
in
School District
11. Now she is excited to be the principal at Fremont
Elementary School.
When Ms. Carlson is not
working, she enjoys spending time with her family. Her husband is a
science teacher at Holmes
Middle School.
Her son graduated from the
University
of
Colorado
at
Boulder
and now lives in
Denver.
Her daughter is a senior at Coronado
High School
and will attend CU Boulder in the fall. Ms. Carlson loves to be
outdoors and can frequently be seen hiking with her dog, Jazzie. She
loves stories, in book and movie format, and loves to spend time with
her friends.
