Bio:
Hello. I am Janet Strutton, the Literacy Resource Teacher. Teaching is
my heritage, as I am a third generation teacher. Both of my
grandmothers were teachers. My mother taught 34 years, and my father
was a principal. They all left a legacy to fulfill. My family moved to
Colorado Springs when I was six years old because they paid teachers
better than in our home state of Oklahoma. I am a proud product of
District 11 schools. I attended the University of Northern Colorado to
follow in my family’s footsteps. I began teaching in District 11 as
soon as I graduated from UNC with a dual degree in elementary education
and special education. I have taught at three schools: Columbia, Mark
Twain, and Penrose. I received a master’s degree in Diverse Learners
from the University of Phoenix. My job as a literacy resource teacher
involves coaching teachers, professional development, assisting with
assessments, and interpreting data. I am very excited to be a part of
Freedom Elementary. Together we can create a vibrant atmosphere of
learning.
