Hi! I’m Theresa (Teri) Parsons. I’m one of the
Fifth Grade Teachers here at Freedom Elementary. This is my first year
with District 11 as a contracted teacher. However, last year I was a
substitute teacher with District 11 and District 49. I have a Bachelors
of Science in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Elementary
Education. I completed my student teaching last fall in District 49.
This is my second career. In August 2008, I retired from the United
States Air Force after a successful and rewarding 28 year career.
Throughout my Air Force career I taught and counseled many adults. I’ve
always enjoyed teaching. When I was approaching my Air Force retirement,
I realized that I wanted to continue teaching, but this time to
children. I’ve worked with children off and on for the last 28 years.
I’ve been a Cub Scout Leader, Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer Coach,
Junior Achievement and Sunday School Teacher. I have a wonderful
husband, who is also retired from the Air Force and is currently working
as a truck driver. We have three fantastic adult children, Jeremy, 28
years old, Philip, 25 years old, and Kara, 24 years old.
I’m so looking forward to the 2009-2010 school year. I’m excited to get
to know and work with your children and you throughout the school year.
The students in my fifth grade class are awesome and I know we are going
to have a great time learning many new and exciting things this year.
“There is a brilliant
child locked inside every student." Marva Collins
