How many playgrounds does the school have?
We have three playgrounds: a kindergarten playground immediately
adjacent to the kindergarten classrooms, a primary playground for 1st
and 2nd grade, and an intermediate playground area for 4th and 5th grade.
Will there be a climbing wall?
Yes, there will be an elementary-appropriate size climbing wall located
in the gym.
Will we have hot lunch?
All students will have the option to purchase a hot lunch at school.
Will we hang our coats in the hallway or in the classroom?
Clothes racks will be provided within the classroom.
Will I get to ride the bus?
Most students who attend Freedom will not come to school on a bus.
Does the school have a mascot?
The mascot is the falcon.

How was the name of the school chosen?
The Board of Education (BOE) solicited recommendations from the public
through the district web site and advertisements in the Gazette. A
committee of District Eleven staff and community members reviewed the
many suggestions and recommended Freedom to the BOE as their first
choice.
When will I know if my children are eligible to attend Freedom?
The Boundary Committee has posted the proposed boundary changes with
maps on the district bond web site,
http://www.d11.org/capplanprojects.
The BOE will make its final decision on boundaries in late October.
Will a day care program be available on site?
There is before and after school daycare located on site.
Does Freedom plan to accept permits?
Permits will be accepted at current or neighborhood District Eleven
schools on November 1, 2006. As with all District Eleven schools, the
decision is driven by space available. All permit requests will be
considered, and parents will be notified of their status as grade level
space is identified. |
