July Construction Update
Freedom Elementary is on schedule and will open on time! I thought
that I would start this message in response to the first thing my
friends, family and my neighbors ask when I see them. The Fire
Marshall just signed off on our alarm and sprinkler systems
yesterday, Monday July 23, 2007 and most of the building was made
available to accept deliveries and set up furniture as it arrives.
The list of things that have to be completed in and outside of the
building is long and challenging. Our general contractor, GE
Johnson has a reputation for premier projects under budget and on
time. The coordination for a project this size is remarkable. At
every juncture in the process, our contractor has delivered, despite
some considerable challenges and unexpected changes. From plumbing
to paint and electrical to excavation all the sub-contractors have
delivered quality work and pride of workmanship.
All
schools in District 11 are expected to hold regular office hours
effective July 31, 2007. Freedom has been granted an exception and
is expected to open its doors for office business on
August 9, 2007. We want
to thank the Wagon Trails community for their patience and we all
look forward to opening our doors to parents, students and the
public in a few short weeks. Thanks again.
