From Mrs. Linda Hunt-Stone
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to “meet”
each of you. I am honored to serve as Principal on Special Assignment
to Freedom Elementary during the 2009-2010 school year. My work this
year will support your principal, Mr. Marin, and the students and staff
in this remarkable school community.
For more than 20 years, I have been an educator in
public schools. As a teacher’s aide, a Special Education teacher,
Assistant Principal and Principal, I have had many opportunities to
teach and to learn! Most recently, I was principal at John Adams
Elementary School and assistant principal at Martinez Elementary.
I received my undergraduate training from Cleveland
State University in psychology and social services. My graduate studies
were in Special Education at the University of Illinois-Edwardsville. I
received my Educational Leadership credential from the University of
Colorado at Colorado Springs. There are many more years of learning
ahead, too! I love to garden, travel, listen to smooth jazz and read!
My immediate family includes my husband of 33
amazingly wonderful years, Phil Stone, and my two adult children,
Whitney and Michael. Both of our children attended District #11
schools; Lincoln Elementary, Holmes Middle School, Palmer High School
(Whitney) and Coronado High School (Michael). This educational
foundation prepared well for great careers and exciting lives! Our
other family members include our two dogs, Reggie and Beau
This year I hope to contribute to your child’s
educational success ; a sense of curiosity and confidence about the
world, their dreams and their role in making the future safe,
respectful, healthy and wonder-filled!
