The district has a significant investment in facilities.
There are over 60 schools and support sites with a total of over 4.2 million
square feet of building space on over 725 acres of land supporting over
32,000 students.
OUR MISSION:
The Facilities Department supports the district’s focus on increasing
student achievement by expertly maintaining, repairing, planning, designing
and building safe, efficient and effective learning environments for our
students, staff and community.
OUR VISION:
The Facilities Department will:
- Earn the respect of principals, building managers,
staff, the school board and our Colorado Springs community;
- Faithfully steward the resources entrusted to us,
conserving energy, protecting the environment and employing our people,
time and funds efficiently and effectively;
- Care for our team members and do our best to make
everyone in Facilities proud to be part of this organization;
- Take pride in our workmanship and our customer
support;
- Openly communicate with one another and with those
needing our services, providing regular feedback on the status of work
orders and projects;
- Prioritize our efforts, enabling us to (in order of
priority):
- Maintain our existing 4.2 million square
feet of facilities and 725 acres of grounds;
- Repair existing infrastructure as necessary
and possible;
- Plan, Design and Build renovations,
improvements, additions and new facilities as requirements dictate and
resources permit.
Maintenance, repair and construction are performed by a
combination of in-house shops and contractors. The in-house shops are
focused on emergency response, preventive maintenance and corrective
maintenance, but also have a limited capability for small repair and
construction projects (typically costing less than $10,000). Contractors
are typically used for the larger projects. This department has 75
full-time regular positions and between 10 and 30 temporary and seasonal
part-time employees. See the link on the left for our Organizational
Overview.
