Russell Middle School

 

Russell captured most of their $1,740.56 “Energy Dollars” in Tier Two. Carol Swaniga and the entire staff at Russell contributed to an exceptional 32.50% reduction in utility costs. Many other factors contributed to Russell’s tremendous energy cost savings as well. Their efforts are listed below:

 

1.        Administration worked with the RCM team to develop school specific Building Use and Operation Guidelines.

2.        Administration worked with RCM team and Mechanical shop to reduce HVAC operating schedules.

3.        Custodians use override switches for ventilation and heating in the cafeteria and media center, helping reduce HVAC operating schedules.

4.        Night technicians turn off hallway and classroom lights in areas where they are not cleaning.

5.        Teachers do their part by shutting off lights and equipment every night and before the weekend in their classrooms.

6.        Coaches and PE teachers are shutting off lights in the gymnasium after use.
