Water Saver Program – Summer Irrigation
2003 Watering Season officially
begins on Tuesday, April 15th, 2003 through October 15th,
2003
Stage II, level B – Intermediate Level
Outdoor landscape watering shall only be
allowed two (2) days per week on designated days as follows:
Commercial users may only irrigate on
Monday and Friday.
Watering Times:
Midnight – 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM – Midnight

Popup (fixed spray) – 20 minutes per
zone.

Rotary (rotary impact or rotary gear)
– 45 minutes per zone.

Watering with a drip irrigation system
or hand held container is allowed for trees, shrubs and plants including
(vegetable and flower gardens) at any time.
Building Manager and Groundskeepers
should:
-
Become familiar with all Colorado
Springs Water conservation ordinances.

Assess all areas of your site to
determine if irrigation is necessary, ex. Zone 1 is mostly dirt with a few
patches of turf grass and a tree in the middle of it.

Repair immediately sprinkler heads
that are damaged or need adjustment.
-
Report immediately any main or lateral
line breaks or sprinkler head breaks if greater than three.

Request through Landscape any
necessary tools or replacement parts needed to make minor repairs
No Building Manager or Groundskeeper
shall:

Apply water to any turf grass, soded
or landscape area that results in the pooling or flowing of water across the
ground or into drainage ways, gutters or storm sewers

Fail to repair any irrigation system
that is leaking

Apply water intended for landscape
irrigation to any impervious surface, such as a street, sidewalk, driveway,
patio or deck.

Commercial car washes must develop,
maintain on-site and comply with a best management practices plan that
demonstrates optimal use of water. This plan must be available for review and
approval upon request by utilities at all reasonable times,

There shall be no hose washing of
sidewalks, walkways, patios, driveways, parking areas or other impervious
surfaces, except to eliminate conditions that pose a threat to public health
or safety or when required as surface preparation for the application of
architectural coatings or painting.

Alternative Water Management Plans
School District 11 will file Alternative
Water Management Plans with Colorado Springs Utilities to allow for adequate
irrigation of Priority I Athletic Fields for seeding, top-dressing, and
maintenance during the summer, and Priority II Physical Education Fields.
Violations of Stage II Water
Restriction Ordinances: (within a calendar year)
First Violation - written warning copy
to address and to Facilities
Second Violation - $100.00 charge to water bill for premises. (Notify customer
in writing)
Third Violation - $250.00 charge to water bill for premises. (Notify customer in
writing)
Fourth Violation - $500.00 charge to water bill for premises. (Notify customer
in writing)
