LYNETTE PFEIFFER
Lynnette
Pfeiffer, a Colorado Springs School District 11 psychologist
received this year’s prestigious Colorado School
Psychologist of the Year award. Her nomination letters
carefully detailed her demonstration of integrity,
dedication, and commitment to children, their families, and
the community of El Paso County School District #11 in
Colorado Springs.

BETSY STRINGER
Betsy Stringer, Colorado Springs School District 11 school
nurse consultant, received the “Caring for Our Youth” award
as part of the 2010 Regional Florence Nightingale Academy of
Nursing Awards. The Nightingale Awards began in 1985 to
recognize excellence in human caring by Colorado registered
nurses. Betsy was one of 33 registered nurses selected
from well over 300 nominees in the Colorado Springs area.
Several hundred people attended the awards banquet and
ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on March 12, 2010.
They included members of the Colorado Springs professional
nursing community along with their families.
Betsy has been an Registered Nurse for 33 years; she earned
her MSN at Indiana University. She has worked for School
District 11 for the past nine years, and she has made a
significant difference in the lives of countless students
and their families. Currently, Betsy is the school nurse
covering Coronado High School, Monroe Elementary School, and
Jackson Elementary School. In addition, she is the co-chair
of the School District 11 school nurses. |

MITCHELL
8 Mitchell ACE (Alternative Cooperative Education) students
completed the Work Keys Certification Test to earn a
Colorado Career Ready Certificate and received scores at the
Bronze level or higher. 4 students were very close to the
Gold level and one student achieved it. The Colorado work
force uses this certificate to gauge candidate’s skill
levels. Colorado School District 11 and the City of
Colorado Springs are 2 employers that require Career Ready
certification to secure employment.

VOLUNTEERS
Parents, Teacher, ESP, and other Community Members: Please join
SEAC!
The SpEd Department is
currently seeking volunteers who will make at commitment to the
Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). Volunteers should be
able to attend most of the meetings and have an eagerness to work
toward improving the achievement and programming for SpEd students
in a collaborative setting.

Early Childhood Office
& Child
Find |
|
The Early Childhood Office coordinates programs and services for children
aged birth to six. We also conduct assessments to determine eligibility for
Special Education services for children from birth to 5 years of age. To begin the Child Find process call 328-3110
and request
an intake packet.
D-11 preschools service children from 3 to 5 years
old.
D-11 offers preschool in 33 elementary buildings in conjunction
with
Community Partnership for Child Development.
Due to limited funding, preschool is
only available to D-11 residents who qualify for
the program.
