Mayor

Lionel Rivera is the Mayor of Colorado Springs. The Mayor has many duties and his job is very important. The Mayor is the highest ranking official in the city. He is elected by the citizens of Colorado Springs. He must do a good job for all citizens if he wants to be elected again. He tries to get new companies or businesses to come to Colorado Springs. He tries to be sure everyone has a good job. He is the leader at the City Council meetings. When important papers need to be signed for the city, the Mayor signs them.

A mayor must be a good speaker and a good listener. He gives speeches about how our city is growing. He also talks about problems that need to be fixed. He tries to make decisions that will be good for us today and many years from now. He listens to citizens that have problems or complaints. He represents all citizens, so listens to people who think things need to change. He speaks to news reporters and tells them about future plans for the city.
