City Clerk  

 

Kathryn Young is the City Clerk for Colorado Springs. A City Clerk must be very organized. She watches over the work of many people  at City Hall. She makes sure all legal papers are filed correctly so they can be found when they are needed. The City Clerk helps citizens and members of the City Council. She helps them find important papers for their meetings. All of the important city papers must be filed by the City Clerk. She keeps a copy of old and new laws and legal papers for the City Council and Colorado Springs citizens. If someone wants to know who owns land in the city, the City Clerk can find the answer. If someone has a question about their taxes, the City Clerk can help them. When a new baby is born, the parents get a Birth Certificate from the City Clerk.  

When it is time for elections, the City Clerk makes sure each person follows the rules. She watches over people who count the votes. The City Clerk is the first person to find out who won the election.
