Overview

The second semester of freshman English is focused on developing more sophisticated reading and writing skills with more demanding texts.  Students will learn the art of persuasion in the third quarter of their freshman year by reading and analyzing persuasive texts such as commentaries and editorials.  They will also have opportunities to write persuasively for a variety of purposes and to various audiences.  In the 4th quarter of English 2, students will have the chance to apply their literacy skills in more demanding projects;  perhaps they will culminate the year with a research project or with a literary creation of their own!
