Grade 9 -12, Field Hockey |
|
Course Number: PE.FLDHCKY
Overview
Have you ever seen a hockey game
played in the grass? This game is actually called field hockey and dates
back almost 4,000 years. Drawings were found in the tomb at Beni-Hasen in
the Nile Valley of Egypt that depicted men playing the sport. It was
introduced to females behind a gymnasium at Harvard University in the early
1900’s. Field hockey requires skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting
for a goal. An emphasis will be placed on these skills, position play,
understanding the rules of the game, and applying strategy for team play.
