Grade  3 - 5 , Bouldering Wall Unit

Overview
Climbing is a lifetime sport and activity that students can participate in at the elementary level. The bouldering walls are 8 feet high and range in varying distances. Climbing is integrated with with emotional and intellectual characteristics such as problem solving, patience , perseverance and courage. Bouldering on the Traverse Wall builds muscular strength, flexibility, coordination and cardiovascular fitness through the entire muscle spectrum, through repetitive movement climbing builds muscular strength through out the whole body. Reaching for the hand holds and stretching for the foot holds develops flexibility. Moving hands and feet back and forth in different directions develops coordination. Cardiovascular fitness is developed by making longer and faster traverses. Climbing will influence students in a wide range of levels, it will help increase self confidence, improve participation in life time and outdoor activities through out ones life.

Cardiovascular - Participates in activities that require increased  heart rate doing this sustained activity for increasingly longer periods of time.
