News & Accomplishments

Coronado High School

Coronado Track News:  David Mueller broke the 200m dash record set by Bobby Carter and he placed 4th in the 200 and 5th in the 400.  Dusty Solis broke the 800m dash record set by Chris Law.  Travvis Scott finished 7th in the High Jump.  The 4X400 team consisting of David Mueller, Travvis Scott, Partick Ballard, and Dusty Solis finished 7th and also broke the school record.  LaTraia Scott was the 100m State Champion and 2nd in the 200m dash and broke both of her 100 and 200m records twice.  For more information on the Cougars 2008 track and field season please visit cougarrunning.info.

Congratulations to the Coronado Girls’ Tennis team and the Girls’ Golf team! Both teams won the 5-A State Championship for the CHSAA Academic Team.  They join the Girls’ Swim team, who also won the Academic Team Championship this winter.  This award is given to the team that has the highest non-weighted combined varsity GPA for each sport.

Mitchell High School

  • New softball field built and used on Mitchell’s campus
  • Sophomore tailback, Mon’Darrius Benson, rushes for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns in one game.
  • Senior Volleyball player, Tamia Herholz, receives full ride scholarship to play Volleyball at Gardner-Webb.
  • First time since 1994 that Mitchell Girls Basketball has beaten Doherty, Palmer, and Rampart in the same school year.
  • Mitchell Boy’s Basketball beat previously undefeated 17 – 0 Palmer on 2/05/08. Final score was Mitchell 75 and Palmer 73.

Palmer High School

Buy a piece of history.  May of 2008 will be the last month for the original gym floor at Palmer, formerly Colorado Springs High School.  Palmer will be selling 2 ft by 2 ft sections of the original gym floor in Erps Gymnasium.  For questions please contact Robert Framel at 328-5043 or email him at framerl@d11.org.  All money will go to the Palmer Athletic Department to help with uniforms.

Wasson High School

Rotary Champion Antonio "Tony" Sanchez was the male award winner chosen out of the entire Ell Paso and Teller County Regions.  The award goes to an athlete that excels not only in athletics but also in academics and school and community involvement.

NCAA Approved Courses

Guiding the District Eleven Student-Athlete to succeed in the classroom and on the playing field!
District 11 is proud to offer its NCAA Approved Core Courses for the academic year of 2004-2005.  We are committed to the success of District Eleven's student-athletes and strive to offer the finest counseling as student-athletes prepare for success in the college classroom and onto graduation.
The NCAA has approved the following courses for use in establishing the initial-eligibility certification status of students-athletes from Coronado, Doherty, Mitchell, Palmer and Wasson High Schools.  NCAA approved core courses may also be previewed at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
