All-Elementary Orchestra Concert
Saturday, March 14, 2009
Mitchell High School – Gymnasium

Your child is invited and encouraged to participate in this special day of orchestral music. Students from all 41 of our District Eleven elementary schools have been practicing their music for this concert. When combined into a large orchestra, the sound these young people make is amazing and inspiring!

Schedule for the day: Parents and students should plan on arriving 15 minutes early for your particular rehearsal.
Beginning Orchestra Practice 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Combined Orchestra Practice 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Advanced Orchestra Practice 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The BIG CONCERT is at 1:00 p.m.
All students should arrive by 12:30 p.m. for our 1:00 p.m. concert. The concert should last about an hour.

Concert Dress: Girls should wear dark slacks/skirt and a white or light-colored shirt. Boys should wear dark pants and a white or light-colored shirt. Students may wear their orchestra shirts if they have one. Students should wear dressy shoes if possible.

Music Stands: Please bring your own music stand if you have one; there will not be enough district stands for each student. Be sure to put your name on all pieces of your music stand. Also, be sure your name is on your music and your instrument case as well.

Student/Parent Responsibilities and Important Information:
Students are responsible for their coats, instruments, music and/or music stands.
Mitchell H.S. WILL NOT HAVE FOOD facilities available and will be closed during the period between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Parents are responsible for making appropriate arrangements for picking up their children, providing lunch, and returning by 12:30 p.m. for the concert preparation. There are many “fast food” restaurants within a mile of Mitchell High School.

Directions to Mitchell High School located at 1205 Potter Drive: Mitchell High School is very close to the Citadel Mall. On Academy Blvd. turn east on Galley about ½ mile and turn left (north) onto Potter Drive. The school is located on the east side of Potter Drive. The gym is located on the south end of the campus.
