District 11 Educational Support Services
Educational Achievement System

Welcome

"District 11 uses the Educational Achievement System "EASy" as the common Curriculum and Data Management System for all schools. The Data Management Module of the system is being implemented during the 2007-2008 school year, and the Curriculum Management Module of the system will be implemented in 2008-2009. We anticipate this new system will help make the task of using data to make informed instructional decisions...well, "EASy."

Creating  a Database of
Exemplary Lessons
"Distributed databases should not be just collections of lessons that teachers can use. What we are proposing is far more complex and far more powerful."
~ James Stigler and James Hiebert

"To begin with the end in mind means to start with a clear understanding of your destination. It means to know where you're going so that you better understand where you are now so that the steps you take are always in the right direction."
~ Stephen R. Covey,
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

"The star teachers of the twenty-first century will be those who work together to infuse the best ideas into standard practice. They will be teachers who collaborate to build a system that has the goal of improving students' learning in the "average" classroom, who work to gradually improve standard classroom practices. In a true profession, the wisdom of the profession's members finds its way into the most common methods. The best that we know becomes the standard way of doing something."

~ James Stigler

News

What We Believe

  • EASy is District 11's new web-based curriculum and data management system for teachers and administrators.
  • EASy (powered by SchoolNet) will put all of your students' achievement data (CSAP, MAP, DIBELS, TOWRE, Colorado ACT, CELA, and common assessments), as well as district-wide curriculum resources, at your fingertips in one easy-to-use software system.
  • EASy will end the hours and days of searching through three or four data programs for all your students' information.
  • EASy will enable you to drill down to each students' results and run reports, graphs and charts with the click of the mouse.
  • EASy will give Teachers and Principals more time and resources to work on what's most important, students.
Mission: Develop an integrated, user-friendly system that integrates data, assessment and instruction to enhance organizational effectiveness to improve student achievement.

“Our main objective in District 11 is to provide our students with the best education in Colorado.  The teaching is done in the classroom so my job as Superintendent is to implement the initiatives, programs and policies that will help to drive student achievement. By partnering with SchoolNet and giving teachers and principals instant access to the data they need, we will provide our staff with the tools necessary to be successful.”
~ Dr. Terry Bishop, Superintendent of Colorado Springs School District 11

District 11 will be implementing the following SchoolNet Solutions:
• Account™ - to analyze, present and apply data for district, school, and classroom impact
• Align™ - to disseminate curriculum, integrate lessons and assess student data
• Assess™ – to deploy assessments and administer benchmark testing

Assessment

The Assess portion of EASy will allow the results of district short cycle assessments to be scanned directly into the system via plain paper scanners located at schools or the AERO office. This will allow the end users to have access the next day to the data to drive their instruction.

Curriculum

Curriculum Management Made EASy (Fall 2008 launch)

The Align Module of EASy will allow teachers to sort through a curriculum database and find resources and strategies aligned to specific standards and District Indicators. In addition, teachers will be able to see extension activities and support resources for students on both ends of the learning spectrum. All content within EASy is password protected and viewable only to the user groups in which employees are assigned. In order for parents and students to get a clear picture of learning expectations within each course and grade level, portions of the curriculum are viewable via the District 11 Division of Operations and Instruction Web site.

 Goals

  1. Develop a system of enhanced communications flow and interactions between Instruction, Assessment and Information Technology as measured by survey data. (Lead:  Marsha)
  1. Provide timely, relevant and user friendly assessment data at the district, school and classroom level to be measured by customer satisfaction survey results. (Lead: Rick and Tom)
  1. Provide a process for developing, deploying, importing and evaluating research-based exemplary models of instructional units/lessons and courses as measured by feedback loops. (Lead:  David)
  1. Provide professional development that will introduce and continually scaffold the learning around how to use the system effectively as measured by an implementation rubric. (Lead:  Ronda/Charlene)
  1. Use a comprehensive needs analysis to develop a system that fills the needs of the district, schools, classrooms and tax payers as measured by benchmarks for success. (Lead: Greg)
  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of the system’s processes as measured by timelines and benchmarks. (On time and within budget.) and to stakeholder satisfaction.) (Lead:  J. and Tom)
  1. Evaluate the customer satisfaction with the implementation of the Curriculum and Data Management System as measured by stakeholder satisfaction. (Lead J. and Tom)
  1.  Evaluate the results of using the system as a result of;
    • Using the data reports and benchmark assessment options on an ongoing basis to determine the effectiveness of the instructional program.
    • Using the data reports and benchmark assessment options to determine gaps in learning and determine instructional interventions.
    • Using the Curriculum integration to plan lessons aligned to standards and essential skills.
    • Develop a comparison of measured outcomes from the new process to previous systems to determine how to further improve integration with instructional and curriculum interventions.
