| LIBRARY MEDIA HOME | SPORTS and ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING This course is an introduction to marketing using sports and entertainment as examples. Student will learn about the seven functions of marketing: promotion, selling, product/service management, marketing-information management, pricing distribution, and finance. Fantasy sports, case studies, guest speakers, current periodicals, games, and field trips may be available to student to reinforce the classroom instruction. Students enrolled in this course are encouraged to join DECA (an association of marketing students). This course offers the student the opportunity to explore career possibilities and gain knowledge and skills in marketing with an emphasis on advertising, selling and career opportunities. Students will learn how to “do” marketing by applying the seven functions of marketing: promotion, selling, product/service management, marketing-information management, pricing distribution, and finance. Students interested in Advanced Marketing and the Marketing Internship should register for this course during their sophomore or junior year. DECA is required for students in this course. Enrolling in this course, and joining DECA, enables students to participate in DECA competitive events. Advanced Marketing offers the student interest in a business career added exposure to the fields of marketing, merchandising, entrepreneurship, and management. Students will learn how to “do” marketing by applying the seven functions of marketing: promotion, selling, product/service management, marketing-information management, pricing distribution, and finance. This course gives the student the management and ownership points of view for making basic business decisions. This is an excellent course for students planning to major in business/marketing in college, or to enter the work force immediately upon graduation. DECA is required for students in this course. Enrolling in this course, and joining DECA, enables students to participate in DECA competitive events. Advanced Marketing students have the option of enrolling in the Marketing internship course.
