1. Inclusion- with supports, if needed, by teacher assistants or student tutors.
2. Teamed Teaching Classes- A regular class teacher and a Special Ed teacher co- teach to provide additional support to Special Ed. Students for optimal success.
3. Resource classes-
a. Offered by special Ed. Teachers with an academic approach in Reading,
Social Studies, Math and Science.
b. Life Skills oriented classes for students with more significant needs. Lessons
are aligned with daily living and community access skills such as: self-
advocacy skills, safety skills, leisure skills - all with social and communication
skills integrated throughout.
c. Community- Based Education - Students draw parallels from their small group
community learning experiences and expand upon this knowledge in the
classroom.
d. Vocation/Prevocational exploration and training:
- Job visits to increase awareness of entry level jobs in various businesses
and their characteristics as compared to individual preferences, strengths
and their weaknesses.
-Supervised job training within Coronado and businesses within the
community for upper level students.
-Prevocational training for students who are needing assistance to learn
to attend and increase time on tasks.
Our continuum of services provides for Special Ed. students of all skill and functioning levels. |
