CU Succeed Gold Program

Coronado has entered into a unique partnership with CUDenver to enable our students to complete challenging university course work and earn college credits through the University of Colorado while still in high school. Courses are taught by Coronado teachers who have received honorarium faculty appointments from the University of Colorado. CU Succeed Gold courses are select introductory courses from CU Denver’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Arts & Media, and College of Engineering and Applied Science. These courses have the same content as oncampus courses, require the same quantity and quality of work, and are evaluated by the same high standards. These courses are taught here at Coronado and students receive concurrent high school and college credit. Credits earned in CU Succeed Gold courses are regular University of Colorado at Denver credits that are recorded on an official University of Colorado transcript. Policies regarding the transfer of credits and the ways in ways in which they apply to degree requirements vary from institution to institution. As such, no institution can guarantee that all credits will be accepted by other institutions. Generally speaking, institutions that accept University of Colorado credits will accept credits earned in CU Succeed Gold courses. CU Gold courses not only give Coronado students the opportunity to earn college credits prior to graduating from high school, it reduces the time and expense of earning a bachelor’s degree. Students pay a reduced tuition rate for college credit while taking CU Gold courses. Full time college students at UCD currently pay $215 a credit hour. If student fees and living expenses are factored into those costs it can easily take the cost of attending an instate college or university to nearly $500 a credit hour. Costs at some select colleges and universities are now in excess of $1200 a credit hour. Students enrolled in CU Gold courses pay only $150 for a three credit hour course. The $50 a credit hour our students pay for university credit can add up to thousands of dollars in savings. (Tuition rates are set by UCD and are subject to change.) We have expanded the program this year with more course offerings and hope to make it possible for students to use Advanced Placement and CU Gold courses to complete in excess of 30 hours of college credit while enrolled at Coronado.
