PTCO-Parent
Teacher Community Organization
Kevin Moore - PTCO President Columbia
Columbia's
PTCO invites all Columbia families to join. Membership is $3
per family. The PTCO raises funds for classroom use, special
projects like playground equipment, and special events like
the Sock Hop, School Carnival and Chili Supper.
We'd
like to thank all our wonderful volunteers, without their
hard work, Columbia would not be able to support our
students and community with all we do! However, it not only
takes great volunteers but also the wonderful support of our
students' parents who come and participate in the events
that Columbia sponsors. A HUGE thanks to everyone!
Keep
saving those cans for Can Collection Day. Remember, can
money goes to playground needs. Get the
schedule for can collections!
Check
the school's calendar for monthly PTCO Events.

Volunteers
Columbia
welcomes volunteers to help out in the classrooms or office.
If you are interested, please stop by the office to sign in
and complete two volunteer cards, one for PTCO and one for
the administration office. It does not matter how much time
you volunteer, your help is needed and appreciated
throughout the year! We are always looking for volunteers to
serve on the PTCO (Parent/Teacher/Community Organization)
and the Accountability Committee (both at the school level
and district level.) If you would like to help shape the
future of our schools, these are excellent committees to
become involved in! If you are interested in volunteering at
Columbia, please be sure to fill out and return the
Volunteer Survey that will be sent home with your students
in their First Day Packets.

Soup
Labels and Box Tops for Education
We are
still collecting soup can labels as well as Box Tops for
Education. You may turn the box tops into your student's
homeroom teacher. Soup labels may be turned into the office
or the giant soup can at the front entrance. Thanks for your
continued support of these two worthwhile projects to help
Columbia earn extra monies for special projects!

Student
Technology User Agreements
When
your student comes home with a Student User Agreement for
you to sign, please sign and send the contract back to their
teacher promptly. Students MUST have this paper signed to
use any technology at school. Students are restricted in how
they use the Internet and e-mail in the classroom. The
classroom teacher previews the sites they want to use with
their curriculum, obtains permission to use the sites, and
the students are not allowed to use other sites. Students
may NOT surf the Internet at will !! Students will receive
instruction on how they are expected to use Internet at
school. Any student NOT following the guidelines will lose
their privilege to use Internet. In the future students will
have an email address to use for educational purposes.

Friday an information packet will be sent home with your
students containing various informational flyers and the
monthly newsletter. These items are sent home to help keep
you informed about activities at your student's school.

when they come home from school. You will need to take all
items out of the packet, sign the front and return it to
your student's homeroom teacher by the following Monday.
Please do not send signed permission slips, etc. back to
