Chipeta PTA General meeting December 6, 2006 Call To Order: The general meeting of the Chipeta PTA was held in room #19 at Chipeta Elementary on Tuesday, December 6, 2006, and called to order at 6:34 p.m. President Stacy Papenfuss presided, and Heidi Lagasca recorded the minutes.
Minutes: The minutes of the October 3, 2006, meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: The financial report was approved by consensus. The treasurer shared her concerns about the amount of returned checks she has been getting this year and what it is costing the PTA in bank fees and not being able to collect payment on merchandise already given to the parents. A discussion ensued regarding Checkway and if this would be something we would want to try next year. A motion was made by Ana Chavez to use Checkway next year for checks that are bounced twice. The motion passed.
Principal’s Report:
President’s Report: Stacy Papenfuss and Christine Bauers attended a Jefferson Elementary PTA meeting at their request. The school is trying to raise money for playground equipment. A discussion followed regarding our PTA donating the January Bingo proceeds to help Jefferson Elementary buy their equipment. A motion was made by Sondra Ferguson to donate our January Bingo proceeds to Jefferson Elementary School. The motion passed.
Committee Reports: Box Tops: A total of 5944 box tops have been collected since September. Mrs. Smith’s class won the Box Tops Contest, and they will be having a party in January. New flyers will be coming out soon for the next contest.
Printer Cartridges: A check should be coming soon.
BAAC Liaison: Surveys are being put together by the BACC committee.
Artsmart: Nothing to report.
Board of the Arts: There were 9 entries for the Reflections contest as of December 6th. Teachers picked “Survivor Bully Proof”, performed by PAYO, for an upcoming assembly.
Carnival/Sock Hop: The Sock Hop went well. The school carnival is scheduled for March 2. . Health and Safety: Safety Town went well. Tar Wars is scheduled in the spring for the 5th graders.
Hospitality: Winter luncheon is December 12. They shared some of what they have planned for the luncheon as well as gifts.
Legislative: Fran Blayney will be attending a meeting in Denver in February.
Membership: We have 204 members.
Read Naturally: Nothing to report.
Publication: The deadline for articles to be submitted to Kristin Abernethy is February 1, 2007.
Student Enrichment: 60 registrations for fall classes. Working on spring classes.
Volunteers: Tickets For Time will be going out next week.
Ways and Means: Bingo is January 19. Approximately $1800 was raised through Art to Remember. Thank you Dana and Valerie!
Yearbooks: Nothing to report.
New Business: Melissa Kellmann made a motion that $3200 should be spent on holiday gifts for the teachers. The motion passed.
