Chipeta Elementary School 2007-2008 Intramural Schedule Dear Parents and Students, Welcome back to another exciting year at Chipeta. On Tuesday, September 11th, we will be meeting for our first intramural sport (cross-country.) When children participate in intramural sports, it helps promote a lifetime of activity. Furthermore, it gives them an additional opportunity to develop fundamental skills and demonstrate good sportsmanship. A $10.00 participation fee is required for each sport/activity. The money that is collected will be used to purchase new physical education equipment and pay salaries. In addition to the fee, parents must return the permission slip to Mr. Louis. The permission slip and fees are due before each activity. If you sign up for more than one activity, please mark the corresponding sports below. Additionally, we would like to encourage parents to write one check, made out to Chipeta, for the year. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up promptly at 3:30 p.m. Unfortunately, younger siblings are not allowed to stay and watch. They are not supervised and this becomes a safety concern. Furthermore, I would like to mention that during the cross-country meets; we travel to other schools for our meets. Every Tuesday, starting on Sept. 18th, we will have a meet located at various schools. This is the only intramural sport that we will travel to other schools. The grade levels that travel are third, fourth, and fifth grades only. If you have a child in third, fourth, or fifth grade interested in participating in cross-country, and you would be interested in being a driver, contact Mr. Louis. Unfortunately, if we don’t have enough drivers, we will not be able to participate in these meets. Finally, I would like to recruit parents to help with intramurals. You would help referee games. I will help you with the rules so you don’t have to feel worried.
