Oct. 8, 2007

Meeting called to order at 6:35pm

Attendance:  Dave Bergacker, Lori Butler, Julie Randall, Troy Gedack, Tim O’Brien, Scotti Kassner, Julie Evans, Leah Landolfi, Christine Benne

Minutes: read and approved

Principal’s Report

-Count Day:  October 1, 2007 reported 398 students

-Vice Principal:  due to increased enrollment the school will be able to have a ½ time      Vice Principal. 

-Security System:  the system is in and working well.

-Award:  Chipeta received ‘It’s a Mountain’  Award with $1500.  The staff voted on having another mural done.

-Tutoring:  tutors have been hired and are also helping as kindergarten and lunchroom

aids

McTeacher Night, Oct 10, 2007 at Garden of Gods Rd McDonald’s will help with funding for kindergarten aids.

-Carpet:  Carpeting in staff lounge will be done on Oct 12.

 

Sub-Committee Reports

            Budget:  Julie Evans-will report in November

            DAAC:  Julie Randall and Troy Gedack-presentation on DAAC/BAAC training

Attendance:  Leah Landolfi-absentee from Aug 16-Oct 8 was 1,146 (excused, unexcused, other) that is a 4.1% reporting absent on average per day.  The goal    for the SIP is 96% attendance rate.

            PTA:  Christine Benne-Thanks to Pack 187 for clean-up after the Sock Hop

The Vendor Fair was enjoyed by the parents.  Next meeting will be Dec 4, 2007

            Parent/Community Liaison:  Catamount will present at the November meeting

SIP:  Troy Gedack-reviewed SIP, AYP, NCLB, SAR Accreditation process by the Federal and State, and how the district and the individual schools achieve these goals.

 

Old Business

            Banner:  Tim O’Brien-will talk to district on what they could provide, and where we could put it on the school property.  Tim will find samples of signs.  Awards from the last year would be on the sign.

 

Survey:  The district will be putting out 3 surveys for the schools to use.  The staff survey will be mandatory for all staff.  The parent survey and student survey are optional, though some will be randomly sent out to parents in the mail from the district.  BAAC was able to review the surveys and was proposed and voted to hand out the parent survey to all parents of Chipeta and have it scored by the district.  This survey will replace the school survey handed out every other year by the school.  The BAAC also voted against handing out the student survey.

            Reviewed the October agenda.
