Chipeta,
wife of the Ute Chief Ouray, showed character through extremely turbulent times
in our country’s history. Our nation’s leaders in Washington, D.C. sought out
her ideas for peace. She demonstrated the traits that our students strive to
emulate through our character education program. The six pillars of character
are: caring, fairness, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, and
citizenship.
