Message From The Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is truly my pleasure to serve as the instructional leader in such an outstanding school. This is a beautiful school that has served the Pikes Peak region for 95 years.

The school is growing and we are excited to embrace all of the positive activities that are occurring. We are currently transitioning into the Montessori philosophy of education. This philosophy embraces the importance of child development and meeting children’s needs at their specific developmental level. Individualized instructions with beautiful materials are the hallmarks of Montessori education. This prepared environment truly motivates children to excel.

We work for a positive and proactive community. Our behavioral system is founded on Respect for Others, Self, and Environment while being safe (ROSES). This means children are directed and redirected to make positive choices by asking them “Is this Respectful? Is this safe?” Raised voices, time-outs, and punitive discipline formats are not a part of the system. Logical consequences and redirection are the means to create a safe and positive learning community.

In addition to the centralized focus on the child and their learning, we are committed to continuous parent education and involvement. It is our hope to share the Montessori philosophy and the traditions of Buena Vista to create a village of learners.

If you would like to learn more about the BV programs, both traditional and Montessori, please feel free to call the school at 719-328-4100. We also have opportunities for observation if you would call or e-mail us to make a reservation. Please note that the choice permit window opens November 1st each year and Kindergarten registration begins in April.
