Tami Hasling was elected to the
District 11 Board of Education November 2005. She served as
vice-president for two years and currently serves as board
president. She is a past president of the El Paso Council
PTA and currently sits on the Board of Directors for
Colorado PTA as vice-president of programs. She also sits on
the State of Colorado
Commissioner of Education’s advisory board.
Mrs. Hasling is a native of
Colorado Springs,
and a graduate of District 11’s
Doherty
High School.
Tami has been married 22 years to Curt Hasling, a Colorado
Springs Police Sergeant and has two sons attending District
11 schools. Tami is a dedicated volunteer in our local
schools and has served on the following committees: the
Capital Plan Review Committee, the Long Range School Use
Study Committee, the Friends of District 11 Campaign
Committee, who were instrumental in passing the recent bond,
and is a swimming and diving coach for two District 11 high
schools.
Tami also works as a legal assistant
at a local law firm.

Tom Strand was appointed to fill a
vacant seat on the District 11 Board of Education January
2007.
He was elected to the District
11 Board of Education November 2007 and currently holds a
director seat on the board.
Tom
Strand is married and a father of two children. He is a
volunteer with the Pikes Peak Red Cross as a disaster
counselor. He serves as a certified counselor and public
relations representative for the Colorado Springs SCORE
Chapter (Service Corps of Retired Executives) which provides
free, confidential support to people in, or wanting to
begin, small businesses. He has served as a volunteer member
of the Citizen’s $130 million dollar Bond Oversight
Committee for
School District
11's 2005-2009 Capital Improvement Program. He is a member
of the Colorado PTA.
Mr.
Strand began his United States Air Force active duty career
in Jan 1975 at Peterson Field, Colorado Springs, CO.
Following graduation from
Law
School,
he was appointed as an Air Force Judge Advocate. He had been
a Distinguished Graduate from the Bowling Green
State
University’s
(Ohio)
ROTC program, where he graduated as Cadet Commander and was
commissioned. He honorably served a 30 year career, which
included seven assignments as the Staff Judge Advocate
(managing office partner) at every level of Air Force
command, including: Air Base Group, Tactical Fighter Wings,
Technical
Training
Center,
Numbered Air Forces and Major Command. During his career he
earned a Masters of Law Degree in Labor and Employment Law
from the
National
Law
Center
at
George Washington
University
and was selected as the Outstanding Senior Attorney in the
Air Force in 2003 by the Air Force Association. Mr. Strand
retired from the Air Force as a Full Colonel in February,
2005.

Jan Tanner was
elected to the District 11 Board of Education November 2006.
She served as treasurer from 2004-2007 (appointed as
treasurer by the board 2004-2006) and currently serves as
board secretary. Mrs. Tanner sits on the Colorado PTA Board
of Directors and the Colorado Association of School Boards
as director of Region 6. She graduated from Trinity
University, San Antonio, Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. and Phi
Beta Kappa from the University of Texas, Austin, with an
M.A. Jan has 25 years of experience in bookkeeping and
accounting; 22 years as executive officer overseeing the
family business and 13 years experience in various local,
council, and state positions of a national non-profit
organization, 6 years as treasurer. Jan has been married to
Carl Tanner for 22 years and has one son attending college
in state.

John Gudvangen was elected to the
Colorado Springs District 11 Board of Education in November
2005. He served as president for two years and currently
serves as board treasurer. Prior to his District 11 board
election, John was the chair of the District 11 Advisory
Accountability Committee, and also served as chair of the
capital improvements subcommittee to determine long term
capital needs in the school district. John has served as
chair of the local Martin Luther King, Jr.
Holiday
Planning Committee and as a board member for the local Head
Start agency, the Community Partnership for Child
Development. He is active with the Justice and Peace
community of
Colorado Springs.
A graduate of
Harrison
High School,
John served on the Harrison District 2 school board for two
terms from 1989 to 1997 and was president of the Colorado
Association of School Boards in 1997. He is a choral singer
and organist. John and his wife have two children in
District 11 schools. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from
Colorado
College
and a Master’s Degree from the
University
of
Colorado.
John has served as a college administrator at Colorado
College
since 1988.

School Board
Director Charlie Bobbitt, a third generation
Colorado Springs
native, was first elected to the District 11 school board in
2006 and re-elected in 2007. A graduate of District 11
Wasson High School as are his twin children,
Director Bobbitt holds a bachelor degree in Social Science
Education from
Colorado
State
University.
Mr. Bobbitt has been an active participant in District 11
for many years prior to his election in 2006. He
served on three different schools' Building Accountability
Committees and was the DAAC representative for six years.
He actively campaigned for 1994 and 2005 District 11 Bonds
and also served on several bond committees. He is very
proud of being a founding member of Wasson Alumni
Association. Mr. Bobbitt's career has been mostly in
computer technology, including work with Oracle and NCR
Corporation. Since 2004 Charlie has been an insurance
broker, selling commercial and personnel products to diverse
organizations. Mr. Bobbitt's educational seeks to ensure
that District 11 delivers a quality, competitive education
to make all students more successful and better prepared for
21st Century.

Sandra Mann was elected to the
District 11 Board of Education November 2005. She currently
holds a director seat on the board.
Sandra Mann is the mother of
two District 11 graduates. Because of the awesome education
her children received, her daughter is getting ready to
graduate from
Colorado
College
with a degree in economics and her son is a freshman at Mesa
State College, majoring in criminal justice.
Ms. Mann understands and
believes in the power of public education and what it means
to the American way of life.
She also knows that public education
must plan for the next generation of students if it's to
continue being a significant and relevant part of the
American dream.

Bob Null was elected to the District
11 Board of Education November 2007. He currently holds a
director seat on the board. He has lived in
Colorado Springs
over 22 years. Mr. Null has a MSE, BSE from
Arizona
State
University
and served 35 years in the Air Force (Airman, NCO, Officer);
retired as Colonel. He is also retired as Vice President of
Science Applications International Corporation and is a
major stock holder and on the Board of Directors of a local
internet service provider. Bob is married and a father of 13
children. He has political experience in city and county
governments. He has also taught at the
University
of
Maryland
(Math), high school religion classes, and holds a Colorado
Substitute Teacher Certificate. His community activities
include: El Paso County Planning Commission, Colorado
Springs City Planning Commission (Past Member), El Paso
County Citizens Outreach Group (COG), El Paso County Code
Committee, El Paso County Citizens College Committee and
Colorado Springs Citizens Academy Committee, Colorado
Springs Telecommunications Policy Advisory Committee (Past
Member).
