We understand you may have questions and concerns about us, The Bijou School, moving into your beloved Whittier School building.

Be assured that we are sensitive to those concerns and wish to become the best of neighbors.

We have a great respect for the traditions of your neighborhood and your school and desire to become a member of your wonderful neighborhood in every way.

About Our School:

We have a diverse student body, made up largely of students from around the Pikes Peak region who have decided that the traditional high schools do not meet the needs of their individual learning styles.

We attempt to meet those needs through individualized learning plans and lots of personal attention from the staff and teachers.

Though we are an "alternative" high school in the ways we deliver instruction to our students, we always deliver a curriculum that is in accord with District 11 and Colorado Standards, and our graduates are genuine District 11 High School Graduates.

District 11 is a leader in Alternative Education, having responded to the research that shows that alternative schools of choice are successful by creating several alternative schools around the city for students who have not found the success they desire in the traditional high schools.

Our staff are highly qualified and caring individuals who have a strong commitment to meeting the needs of our students while maintaining the high standards for which District 11 is known.
