Cover Letter Instructions (1 Point)

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to the Bijou Home Page, http://www.d11.org/bijou/
  3. Click on Courses
  4. Click on ACE 2

5.      Click on the Resumes and Cover Letters, Including Samples link.

  1. Click on the About Cover Letters link.
  2. Read this!  It will explain the purpose of a cover letter.
  3. Click on Sample Cover Letters
  4. Click on the samples and look them over.  Get some ideas for yourself.
  1. Open a new document.  You will use the “Letter Wizard” which you open by first going to “File” then “New”:

 

 

  1. Click on the “Letters & Faxes” tab,
  2. Then double-click the “Letter Wizard” icon:

 

  1. Click OK
  2. Click on “Send one letter”

·        You may have the “Office Assistant” message like you see here, or you may see a standard message window, but the question will be the same.

 

 

  1. Follow the instructions the Wizard gives you to produce a basic letter, with the components that are to be found in the examples.

 

·        For example, you can enter the name of the person you’re sending the letter to, their address, your name and address, etc.

·        You can also choose the “greeting” and the “complimentary closing.”

·        For this assignment, start with “Dear…” and “Sincerely…”

 

  1. Now just type the body of your letter in the place it tells you to (see example above, where it says “Type your letter here.”)

·        Follow the examples from the links in #s 5 & 6 above.

·        Substitute YOUR name and other information, like you’re a Junior
   or Senior.

·        You don’t need to use your real address, you can make it up.

 

 

 

  1. After the teacher checks the letter at your computer, PRINT this one page letter, sign it, and put it in your Computer Applications Class folder.
