  1. Open a new document.  You will use the “Professional Letter” Template which you open by first going to “File” then “New”

  1. Click on the “Letters & Faxes” tab,
  2. Then double-click the “Professional Letter” icon:

  1. Click on each area that requires your input in turn to type in the unique information you need that will turn this template into your own letter.

·        For example, you can enter the name of the person you’re sending the letter to: select Sir or Madam and replace it with a name (like Dear Mr. Snarf)

·        Enter the recipient’s  name and address by clicking where it says “.  Use “Mr.” Or “Ms.” Before the name, it’s good to be polite!

·        Type your fictional company address where it says to, near the top.

·        Type your fictional company’s name where it says to, but note that you have to Double-Click, because that item is in a text box:

·        Replace the closing (Sincerely,) with “Respectfully,” by Right-Clicking on “Sincerely” and choosing “Respectfully”

  1. Finish the canned stuff: Your name and job title.

  1. Now just type the body of your letter in the place it tells you to (see example above, where it says “Type your letter here…”)

·        Type that your company has a new product

·        It should be very useful to the recipient’s company

·        It’s not going to be expensive to buy or maintain

·        It won’t be obsolete for several years

  1. After the teacher checks the letter at your computer, print up this one page letter, sign it, and put it in your Computer Applications Class folder.
