Find and Replace text

The Find and Replace features in PowerPoint are used the same way they are in Word.  Those instructions are essentially reproduced here.

Finding and replacing text

  1. Open an existing presentation.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Find or click Replace.

    - or -
    Press Ctrl+F or Ctrl+H.  (Yes, H!)

  1. Enter what you're looking for in the Find what text box.
  2. If you want to replace that word or phrase with something else, type the replacement word or phrase in the Replace with text box.

    Note: if you opened the Find window but want to Replace something after all, just click the Replace button. The Replace window will open instead.
     
  3. Choose among the options for more specific control over the operation.
  4. Click Find Next to begin your search.
  5. When your search string is found, PowerPoint stops.  You need to choose Find Next, or if in Replace, Replace, or Replace All.
  6. Click Close to close the Find or Replace box.

Check Spelling
  1. Click the Spelling button on the Standard toolbar...
  2. Choose among the options in the window to Change, Change All occurrences in your presentation, Ignore, Ignore All, Add to your computer's dictionary, Suggest to show more suggested replacements.
  3. Click Close to close the Spell check window.

 

Change and replace text fonts

In a Single Slide

  1. Select the text to change.
  2. Pull down the Font drop-down box on the Formatting toolbar.
  3. Click the font you want.
 

Change Font size

  1. Select the text to change.
  2. Pull down the Font Size drop-down box on the Formatting toolbar.
  3. Click the font size you want.
Apply special Effects
  1. Select the text to change.
  2. Click the Format menu, then Font .
  3. Select the effect you want under Effects.
  4. Click OK.

Change Case

  1. Select the text you want to change case of.
  2. Click the Format menu then Change Case.
  3. Make your choice and click OK.
    -or-
    Press Shift+F3 until the Case you want appears.
 

The Office Clipboard

This is a feature that is an extension of the clipboard as you came to know it in previous versions of Office.

  • It allows you to place up to 12 items on it to paste any number of them into any Office document, including Word and Excel,  during your current session.
  • In normal conditions, you cut or copy and then paste.
  • With the new Clipboard, you can do this with up to 12 items, pasting them back into your documents in any order.

 

To use the Clipboard Toolbar (as it is called)
  1. Select text or object to cut or copy.
  2. Click Copy on the Clipboard toolbar.

 

 

To Paste

  1. Point to an item on the Clipboard Toolbar.

    -A ScreenTip appears to tell you what is contained in that item:
     
  2. Click that item to paste it.

Reviewing and Running your slide show

The Slide Show menu allows you to preview your presentation on your computer. You can use Slide Show to check a presentation before printing it or to prepare to show it.

Running the Slide Show

  1. On the Slide Show menu, click View Show.
    -or-
    Click the Slide Show button at the bottom of the window.

  2. After the first slide appears, click the mouse to move through the presentation.
    -or-
    Use the arrows on the keyboard.  With these keys, you can move backward if need be.
     
  3. At the last slide, click the mouse to end the slide show.
    -or-
    Anytime during the show, end it by clicking the Esc key on the keyboard (upper left).

  1. On the Slide Show menu, click View Show.
  2. Click the right-mouse button, click Pointer Options, then click Pen. The mouse pointer becomes a pen.
  3. Click and hold the pen on the slide. Drag the pen around words on the screen, until a line encircles the text.
  4. Click the right-mouse button, click Pointer Options, then Arrow. The pen changes back to the mouse pointer.
  5. Click to advance to the next slide.

The Slide Show On-Screen Menu

  1. Start the Slide Show.
  2. Right-click anywhere on the screen,
    -or-
    Click the "embossed" button on the bottom left of the screen.
  3. Click Next at the top of the menu to go to the next slide.
  4. If you're not on the first slide, you can click Previous to go back one slide.

 

Click Go and then By Title to get a list of all the slide titles in your presentation in a menu.  You can click on a slide title to go to it.

-or-

Click Go and then Slide Navigator to see a list of all the slide titles in your presentation in a separate window. You can click on a slide title to go to it.

Using the Keyboard to move through your Slide Show...

  • Move to the next slide by pressing the SPACE BAR, ENTER, PAGE DOWN, or right arrow keys or by clicking the left mouse button.
  • Go back to the previous slide by pressing BACKSPACE, PAGE UP, or the left arrow key.
  • To end the slideshow before it is complete press ESC on the keyboard.
  • To hide the pointer and button from the screen press the A key.
