Using slide transitions with
sound and visual effects
Adding a slide transition
- Move to the first slide.
- On the Slide Show menu, click Slide
Transition.
- In the Effect area, click Checkerboard Across
or any other you want to try. I like Dissolve best.
- In the Sound area, click Laser, and then
click Apply.
- Click the image in the window to watch the
Effect work.
- Click Apply to All to, obviously, apply to
all your slides.

By setting the time to move from slide to slide, you can give your
presentation at your own pace. You can also use the Slide Show to highlight
parts of a slide. Each slide can have a different transition, or the entire show
can have the same one. In addition to manually moving between slides, you can
have PowerPoint automatically advance forward after a set time. This helps you
give a hands-free presentation.
Changing Text Alignment
- Select the paragraphs or bulleted lists to align.
- Click Format, Alignment.
- Select the alignment option you want.

Insert Hyperlinks
To another slide in the same presentation
- Click where you are going to insert the hyperlink
-or-
Select the text or object you want to become the hyperlink.
- Click the Insert Hyperlink button on the
standard toolbar.

- Click the "Place in This Document" button in the left
Places pane (bar).
- Select from the list that is presented to you.
- Edit the text in the Text to display box as
needed.
- Click OK.
TIP: You
can click the Screen Tip button to enter a screen tip that will show
up when you point to or "Mouse Over" your hyperlink.

To another file or presentation
- Click where you are going to insert the hyperlink
-or-
Select the text or object you want to become the hyperlink.
- Click the Insert Hyperlink button on the
standard toolbar.

- Click the "Existing File or Webpage" button in the left
Places pane (bar). (See above)
- Click the File button to browse for the file or
webpage you want to link to.
- Click OK after you have selected the file or
webpage you want to link to.
-or-
Click Bookmark to link to a specific slide in another PowerPoint
presentation.
- In the Select Place in Document dialog box
select the location that you want.
- Edit the text in the Text to display box as
needed.
Remember the ScreenTip mentioned above.
- Click OK.

TIP: If
you want a hyperlink to appear in all the slides, work in the Slide
Master. |

Insert a Text Box
- Click Insert menu, Text Box
-or-
On the Drawing Toolbar, click the Text Box button.
- "Draw" the text box in your slide where
you want it.
- Type your text into the box.
- Resize the text box as necessary.
- Click a resize handle on corner
or side.
- Drag to larger or smaller size as
needed.

Align Text
Vertically
- Select text box or placeholder.
- Click Format, Text Box
-or-
Click Format, Placeholder
- Click the Text Box tab.
- Click the Text anchor point drop-down
arrow and select.
- Click Preview to view the change.
- Click OK.

Size a
Text Box to fit text
- Select text box or placeholder.
- Click Format, Text Box
-or-
Click Format, Placeholder
- Click the Text Box tab.
- Select Resize AutoShape to Fit Text.
- Click Preview to view the change.
- Click OK.

Set Text box margins
- Select text box or placeholder.
- Click Format, Text Box

Click Format, Placeholder
- Click the Text Box tab.
- Click the increment arrows to adjust the margins by the
inch-wise measurements.
- Click OK.

Use Word Wrap in Text Boxes
- Select a text box or placeholder to apply word wrap to.
- Click Format, Text Box

Click Format, Placeholder
- Click the Text Box tab.
- Select Word wrap text in AutoShape.
- Click Preview to view the change.
- Click OK.

Add Speaker Notes
In Normal View
- Click Normal View button.
- Click in the Notes Pane and type notes.
- Press Enter to start new paragraphs.
In Notes Pane View
- Click View menu, Notes page.
- Click in the notes placeholder and type notes.
- Press Enter to start new paragraphs.
Formatting Lines
and Arrows of outrageous fortune.
(Ignore that last)
- Select a line or arrow or an object
containing lines or arrows.
- Click the Line Style button or the
Arrow Style button on the Drawing toolbar.
- Select the style or click More Lines
or More Arrows and choose from the drop-down windows.
- Click OK.
Recolor Lines and Arrows
- Select a line or arrow or an object
containing lines or arrows.
- Click the Line Color button on the Drawing
toolbar.
- Select the line color or click More Line
Colors or Patterned Lines and choose.
Draw Freehand
- Click the AutoShapes button on the
Drawing toolbar.
- Point to Lines.
- Click the Scribble button.
- Drag to draw whatever you need to draw
freehand.
