Menus

In a Windows 2000 application, when you first click on a menu item, you will generally see less than the entire menu.

The double-arrow pointing down at the bottom of the menu indicates the menu is collapsed to the most recently used commands and a few that always appear:

To immediately see the entire menu, click on the double-arrow -or- double-click on a menu initially.

To change this permanently so that you always get the full menu:
 on the Tools menu...
click Customize, and then click the Options tab.

  • Then clear the Menus show recently used commands first check box.

SHORTCUT Menus

There are many variations of shortcut menus:

  •   They all appear when you right-click an object or area.

    •   The one featured here
appears when you right-click in a paragraph in WORD.

  •   It gives several choices of commands appropriate to the task you are performing.

  •   They often have tasks you might otherwise go to a menu at the top of your screen for.

This image shows a Shortcut menu.

This is the shortcut menu that appears
when you right-click on the desktop
