The Battle of the Books is a program offered in the Pikes Peak region. School teams from throughout the region participate in a knowledge bowl style competition on a selected list of forty books from a wide variety of genres.

Each participating school is permitted up to three fifth grade teams made up of four students per team. These teams answer questions orally in two rounds of competition. Leading finalists then compete in the winning battle for the Pikes Peak region.
