News & Accomplishments

District 11 Athletics:  Time for the playoffs for fall sports.  In volleyball we have Doherty going to State.  They will play Pine Creek, Arapahoe, and Ponderosa on Friday night and Saturday November 13 and 14. Good luck at state Doherty.  In the Cross Country State meet held on November 7th we had Palmer girls finish 5th; Palmer boys finished 8th; Coronado boys finished 12th; and Doherty girls finished 22nd.  Andrew Goodman from Palmer finished in 9th place.  Congratulations to all our cross country teams. 

Middle School News

Congratulations to Mark Beranek, currently assistant athletic director in School District 11, who was inducted into the Colorado High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame on March 28.  Before coming to District 11, Mark was boys' basketball coach at Sierra High School.  The Sierra Stallions won 257 games and two state titles during Mark's 16 years with them.  Mark Served a six-year stint as athletic director at Mitchell High School before he became the D11 assistant athletic director.

Every year the Colorado Springs Rotarians put together an event called Rotary Champions.  Schools from around the El Paso and Teller Counties nominate one student-athlete from each of the sports they offer.  The student-athlete needs to excel:

  •           Academically – minimum 3.0 GPA

  •          Athletically

  •          As a citizen (community service)

  •          Leadership

Guiding the District Eleven Student-Athlete to succeed in the classroom and on the playing field!
District 11 is proud to offer its NCAA Approved Core Courses for the academic year of 2004-2005.  We are committed to the success of District Eleven's student-athletes and strive to offer the finest counseling as student-athletes prepare for success in the college classroom and onto graduation.
The NCAA has approved the following courses for use in establishing the initial-eligibility certification status of students-athletes from Coronado, Doherty, Mitchell, Palmer and Wasson High Schools.  NCAA approved core courses may also be previewed at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
