National Board
Congratulations to Janet Giddings, Wasson
Science Teacher, and Margaret Engler,
Wasson Social Studies Teacher. They have achieved National Board
Certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
after a year-long commitment to measure their teaching practices against
the highest national professional teaching standards in the country.
This is a rigorous process in which only about 40% of the applicants
complete on their first try.
National Board Certification is
the highest credential in the teaching profession. To those in Colorado
who achieve the title of National Board Certified Teacher, the Colorado
Dept. of Education awards its tip certification, the Colorado Master
Teacher Certificate. Becoming National Board Certified meets the U.S.
Dept. of Education’s NCLB (No Child Left Behind) requirements for being
“highly qualified”.
We are extremely proud of Mrs.
Giddings’ and Ms. Engler’s accomplishments and their work with students!
Teacher Recognition
Congratulations to Margaret Jurek, Wasson
Science Teacher, for being selected by the Space Foundation as a Teacher
Liaison.
Ms. Jurek is an active link between the Space Foundation, the aerospace
community, and our school and district.
This is a high honor for Ms. Jurek, and an outstanding opportunity and
benefit for our school.
