Nick's Notes

February 13, 2017

Welcome back to another edition of Nick's Notes.

  • Jeremy Koselak, District 11's Response to Intervention coordinator, wrote an article entitled "The Revitalized Tutoring Center," which has been published in the February edition of Phi Delta Kappan. Click here to read the article in its entirety.

This is another example of how District 11 employees continue to add value to the handshake each and every day, because our students deserve the very best.

  • I am proud to announce that Palmer High School's girls' swim team has been named the 5A Academic State Champions, receiving the highest overall team grade point average (GPA) in their classification, with a 4.35 average GPA. This is the second year in a row the Palmer girls' team has earned this honor. Congratulations, girls!
  • Congratulations to Andrea Aragon, Consumer and Family Studies teacher at the Roy J. Wasson Academic Campus. The Colorado Restaurant Foundation has named her the 2017 Colorado ProStart Teacher of the Year! Andrea was nominated for this prestigious award because of her outstanding commitment to students, industry, and for her passion, creativity, and teaching excellence regarding all aspects of the Colorado ProStart program.

Andrea will be honored at the Colorado Restaurant Foundation's 30th Anniversary and Scholarship Awards Celebration event to be held the evening of May 11. In addition, Andrea's name will be submitted for consideration to receive the NRAEF's ProStart National Educator of Excellence Award and the 2017 James H. Maynard Award.
