A Message From Dr. Terry N. Bishop, Superintendent of School District 11

THE WORLD HAS CHANGED.  MEET THE FUTURE!

Dear Friends and Neighbors of School District 11,

As superintendent of schools in School District 11, I am excited about the new direction in our district and all of the outstanding programs we can offer.  Everyone involved in our district, from students and staff to administrators and the Board of Education, is excited about all the positive academic success taking place in our schools.

Technology, media and globalization mean a world changing at an unprecedented pace – and in ways it never has before.  Vast amounts of information are rapidly and readily available; automation and digitization are increasing; global mobility and competition are on the rise; social, political and economic landscapes are shifting dramatically.  Tomorrow is an era of new industries and a more demanding workplace; in fact, when our current school-age children move into the workforce, many will enter jobs yet to be established or even envisioned.

District 11 must meet the demands of today and foresee the demands of the future.  Not only does our children’s potential depend on it; the well-being and viability of our entire community hinge on our ability to do so.

Colorado Springs School District 11 is meeting the demands of the 21st century by developing “21st Century Learners.”  Our talented, award-winning teachers and educational programs drive exceptional academic preparation for our students – preschool through 12th grade.  Our focus on cultural competency and civic responsibility equips students to navigate and influence a shifting world.  Our innovative programs generate class after class of inventive problem-solvers, practiced communicators, skilled collaborators and expert users of technology.

School District 11 provides education that equips students for today and for tomorrow.  It’s learning for lifelong success.  We invite you to join our family.

Dr. Terry N. Bishop
