On April 25, 2007,
the School District 11 Board of Education approved the School
Configuration and Use Study charge and directed the district
administration to form an appropriate committee. Applications for
committee membership were received through May 18, 2007. A
selection committee reviewed all applications and, using the charge
adopted by the board as a guideline, selected members to serve on
the committee. Their recommendations were presented to the board
for approval at the Board of Education meeting on June 6, 2007, and
the Board of Education approved the School Configuration and Use
Study Committee and its co-chairs as presented.
The purpose of the
School Configuration and Use Study is to maximize opportunities for
student achievement by ensuring that District 11 schools are able to
deliver the best instructional program possible within the limit of
available assets and resources.
The charge from
the Board of Education is to:
▪ Study and assess
schools’ performance, instructional program delivery, and fixed assets
and resources
▪ Develop a school
configuration master plan with immediate, near-term and long-range
recommendations
▪ Develop
implementation plans for immediate and near-term recommendations and
resourcing and action plans
▪ Establish and
oversee school- or action-specific subcommittees, conduct public
meetings and hearings for feedback
▪ Monitor
implementation of changes
