My Teaching Philosophy
The purpose of elementary physical education is to
teach students how to move skillfully while giving them a chance to
express themselves in a free and exciting environment. I believe that
providing students with an opportunity to express themselves in a safe
environment, creates a foundation of lifelong fitness and gives them an
opportunity to explore and challenge themselves in a variety of sports and
activities.
During P.E. classes, students will be challenged and
motivated to perform to the best of their abilities. I believe that age
appropriate skill development is the key for providing all of the students
with a quality learning experience. Providing all students with a chance
to learn and excel in a variety of different activities, is one of the
most important factors when teaching to all levels of students.
Physical education will give students an opportunity
to learn a variety of standards based activities ie. locomotor skills,
fitness activities, manipulative skills (catching, throwing, kicking,
striking), and individual and team sports and games.
