Orchestra News
We have several exciting events scheduled this Spring. Please take advantage of these enrichment opportunities we are offering to help you become a better musician!
The United States Air Force Academy Band Presents the Chamber Recital Series winner of the 2007 Pikes Peak Arts Council Award for Chamber Music. The fourth concert of the season, “Imagine”, will feature performances by a variety of Chamber Winds ensembles, including Academy Winds and Solaris. The performance is on Tuesday, January 26th, at 7:30pm at Packard Hall on the Colorado College campus. The concert is free, no tickets are required. The Chamber Recital Series is sponsored by the Colorado College in partnership with UBS.
CSU Orchestra Concert – Field trip for PHS Orchestra students
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010 at Wasson HS – students will be excused at noon and return at 2:00 p.m. Colorado State University Orchestra, will give a matinee performance for D-11 students in preparation for their concert at the Colorado Music Education Association convention.
Cello Master Class with Jurgen De Lemos
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Colorado High School, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. All participating students will receive a free pass to attend the Pikes Peak Philharmonic concert on Sunday, February 21 at 3:00 p.m. where De Lemos will be performing the Elgar Cello Concerto. CHSAA Solo & Ensemble Festival
Saturday, February 20th at Mesa Ridge High School. Paperwork and fees are due to Mrs. Caplinger by Friday, January 22nd.
Viva La Viola! Day
Saturday, April 17th, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fort Collins HS. Open to violists of all levels. Student pre-registration is due by February 15, 2010 - $50 fee per participant. Please see Mrs. Caplinger or the Palmer Orchestra website for more information.
