Colorado Springs/Palmer High School Alumni Scholarship
The Palmer High School Alumni Association will award three scholarships per year.
One $2000 scholarship will go to the 1st place
student.
One $1500 scholarship will go to the 2nd place student.
One $1000 scholarship will go to the 3rd place student.
Students applying for this scholarship must be on track to be a Palmer High School graduate and must have attended Palmer for their full junior and senior years.
Once the student(s) are selected they only need to submit a letter of acceptance from the college of their choice. After verification, a check will be written directly to the student for the total amount of the scholarship awarded to them. They will not need to present any receipts for whatever their expenses may be.
The student does not need to distinguish between a vocational school, college or university.
Student must submit:
A one-side typed page statement (see below).
The Counseling Department will furnish a transcript.
Selection Criteria:
The applicant must state their name, complete address, and clearly state if they are applying for the 2-year or 4 year scholarship at the top of the page.
The applicant will submit a compelling argument that addresses the reasons that they are deserving of this scholarship. This might be a resume or an essay format and the entire application is limited to a one-sided, typed page. This page might include, but is not limited to the following:
o A statement of the
need for financial aid
o Supporting data
o Evidence of community
service
o Work experience
o Leadership experience
o Grades/ Achievement in
School
o Family situation in
regards to college.
Date for submission: March 15 of each year, to the Counseling Secretary, Ms. McDougall.
A committee will make scholarship selection (from the Colorado Springs/Palmer High School Alumni Association).
All applicants will be notified by mail of their scholarship selection status by April 15.
