Ms. Carlson grew up on Long Island near the beach and spent her high school years in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania. After completing her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology at New York University, she moved to Virginia to open a school for special needs preschool children. Four years later she moved to Colorado Springs where she began teaching physically handicapped children at Stratton Elementary. Since then she has been a kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher, a special education resource teacher, a literacy resource teacher, an assistant principal and a principal. When Ms. Carlson is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family. Her husband is a science teacher at Holmes Middle School. Her son graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and now works at a marketing research firm in Denver. Her daughter attends CU Boulder majoring in Integrative Physiology and Dance. Ms. Carlson loves to hike outdoors, enjoys stories in book and movie format, and loves to spend time with her friends. |
